1. Privacy Statement
Thank you for your interest in Trakerr.
Trakerr (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security and confidentiality of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you access or use our platform, including our mobile applications, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). We process personal data in accordance with applicable Ethiopian laws, constitutional privacy protections, and internationally recognized data protection principles such as transparency, purpose limitation, and data minimization. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ANY PART OF THIS POLICY, YOU MUST REFRAIN FROM USING OUR SERVICES.
2. Purpose of Data Processing
Trakerr processes personal data to operate its digital logistics platform, which connects shippers with carriers and facilitates the coordination, booking, and execution of freight and delivery services. This includes enabling account creation and management, matching shippers with available carriers, and supporting shipment requests and fulfillment. We also process data to support core platform functions such as shipment tracking, route coordination, delivery status updates, and communication between users. Personal data is further used to process payments, manage carrier earnings and service fees, and maintain accurate transaction records.
In addition, Trakerr uses personal data to ensure platform security, prevent fraud, verify users where necessary, and resolve disputes between shippers and carriers. Data may also be used to provide customer support and improve platform performance, efficiency, and compliance with applicable Ethiopian legal and regulatory requirements.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Trakerr processes personal data on the basis of several legal grounds depending on the nature of the interaction. This includes processing that is necessary for the performance of a contract when users access or use the platform’s logistics services, as well as processing based on user consent where required, such as for location tracking or optional communications. We also process personal data to comply with applicable Ethiopian legal and regulatory obligations, including tax and reporting requirements. In addition, certain processing activities are based on Trakerr’s legitimate interests, such as ensuring platform security, preventing fraud, improving services, and maintaining operational efficiency.
4. Information We Collect
Trakerr collects personal data that users provide directly, as well as data generated through platform use. This includes information such as full name, phone number, email address, business details, pickup and delivery information, and identification documents where required for verification. For carriers, we may also collect vehicle details, licensing information, insurance documents, and service performance data.
We also collect technical and usage data automatically, including device information, IP address, app activity logs, and system performance data. In addition, the platform collects precise location data where necessary to enable shipment tracking, routing, and logistics coordination. Communication data such as messages between shippers and carriers and customer support interactions may also be processed to facilitate service delivery.
5. How We Use Your Information
Trakerr uses collected data strictly for operational and service-related purposes. This includes matching shippers with suitable carriers, facilitating shipment coordination, tracking deliveries in real time, and enabling communication between parties involved in a transaction. Personal data is also used to process payments, calculate service fees, manage carrier earnings, and maintain accurate financial and operational records.
In addition, we use data to ensure platform integrity and security by preventing fraud, detecting unauthorized activity, and verifying user identities where necessary. Data is also used to provide customer support, resolve disputes between shippers and carriers, and improve platform performance, efficiency, and user experience. Where required, data is processed to comply with Ethiopian legal, tax, and regulatory obligations. Additionally, data may be used to analyze usage trends and improve the efficiency and reliability of the platform.
6. Sharing of Information
Trakerr does not sell personal data under any circumstances. However, we may share information where necessary for platform operation and service delivery. This includes sharing relevant information between shippers and carriers to facilitate shipments, such as contact details, pickup and delivery locations, and shipment information.
We may also share data with trusted third-party service providers that support platform functionality, including payment processors, cloud service providers, mapping and logistics technology providers, and customer support tools. Personal data may be disclosed to regulatory authorities or law enforcement agencies where required by Ethiopian law or legal processes. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or restructuring of the business, user data may be transferred as part of the business assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
7. Data Retention
Trakerr retains personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. This includes maintaining data to provide Services, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Once data is no longer required for these purposes, it is securely deleted, anonymized, or archived in a manner that prevents identification.
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical, administrative, and organizational measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption technologies, secure authentication mechanisms, access controls, system monitoring, and restricted employee access to sensitive data. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no digital system can guarantee absolute security of data transmitted or stored on the platform, and users acknowledge this inherent limitation.
9. Your Rights
Subject to applicable Ethiopian law and international best practices, you have the right to access your personal data and request information about how it is processed. You may also request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data, request deletion of your personal data where legally permissible, and withdraw consent for optional processing such as marketing or location tracking. Additionally, you may object to certain processing activities or request restriction of processing in specific circumstances. All such requests may require identity verification before being processed.
10. Location Data
Location data is essential to the functioning of Trakerr’s Services and is used for matching shippers with nearby carriers, shipment tracking, and improving route efficiency and safety. Users may disable location services through their device settings; however, disabling location access may limit or prevent the proper functioning of core platform features.
11. Third-Party Services
The Trakerr platform may integrate with or link to third-party services that operate independently. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and Trakerr is not responsible for their data handling practices. Users are encouraged to review the privacy policies of any third-party services they interact with through the platform.
12. Data Transfers
In some cases, personal data may be processed or stored outside Ethiopia using secure infrastructure providers or cloud services. When such transfers occur, Trakerr ensures that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect personal data in accordance with internationally recognized data protection standards and principles.
13. Children’s Privacy
Trakerr Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect or process personal data from minors. If we become aware that such data has been collected inadvertently, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
14. Data Breach Handling
In the event of a data breach, Trakerr will take immediate steps to identify, contain, and mitigate the incident. Where required by law, affected users and relevant authorities will be notified. We will also take corrective measures to strengthen system security and prevent future occurrences.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Trakerr may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory changes. Any updates will be posted on the platform with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Services after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
